My work number is inappropriately published because it used to be long to public facing office. I get random marketing calls at work. Today got a call from someone claiming to represent Google Places and wanted to know if I was the business owner. When I tried to explain that this was a government office, why my number was in appropriately on his list and ask him to remove my number from his list, he said he only wanted to know if I was or was not \"the\" business owner and that it was a simple question. I said I was not and he hung up. Because I was not the business owner can\'t be sure he wanted to sell me something. He might have also been trying to clean up a call list for some other purpose. Called the number on caller id and got a recording that said \"The user you are trying to reach is unavailable.\" followed by a fast busy. Other searches indicate it is a landline and the company is XO Inc.

Sheesh. They called so early and they\'re hang up calls to boot!  But I did receive a delivery from Home Depot so eventually the call may come through. Or I can ignore it and not feel so bad.

Dear Student Loan Debtors:You need to educate yourself about the laws of student loan collections before making the decision to just avoid the calls and hope it will go away. This is not consumer debt, so the leverage collection agencies have for these student loans is legitimate. BUT ... there are ways you can resolve the account and get some benefits.Ask about Settlements and Rehabilitation (payments). Want to go back to school and finish your education? Ask about Title IV (Title Four). The choice is yours ... usually voluntary payments are a lot cheaper than 15% of your wages. If we can\'t reach you, you leave us no other choice. Here is a link to see the Dept of Education’s contracted agencies, and see who is legit (CTI is 4th from the bottom on the right column):http://www2.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DCS/collection.agencies.htmlCTI website is:http://collectiontechnology.com/Call back and ask for ext 3104 if you need more help!Good luck!
